Federated wiki has survived into its second decade with a half-dozen compatible implementations. I launched this project with the goal of federating privately owned content that still had the "wiki nature" recognized on the original wiki. Here we might pull together some scattered documentation. But more importantly we seek to explain what wiki does when it achieves its founding goal.
We aspire to write in one place a reliable description of what the federated wiki software does in order to support ad hoc collaboration between strangers within a computational medium. matrix
